This exhibition focuses on Alfred Hitchcock (London, 1899-Los Angeles, 1980), revealing some of the keys to his recognisable style, combining the traits of commercial films with stylistic trademarks. The exhibition is already set in Fundación Telefonica until February 2017.

Rear Window, Psycho, Vertigo or The Birds are some of his biggest masterpieces, films whose has turned them into cinema classics and icons of modernity. We will able to see in the exhibitions interesting details like: the filmmaker’s mastery of avant-garde artistic resources; his ability to be surrounded by skilful collaborators, from technicians to designers to screenwriters to actors and actresses; his strict control over the whole filmmaking process (something quite unusual at the time); the importance of female roles and the complexity of men-women relationships in his movies; the capacity to portray the zeitgeist of his time and the influence on society’s mores and uses.

Curated by Pablo Llorca, a Film and Photography History Professor at Salamanca University’s faculty of Fine Arts (USAL), contributor to various national and international publications and a film director himself.
