Day Trips From Madrid

If you are living in Madrid or you are spending some days in the capital of Spain there are some cities you can not miss them. They are placed in a few kilometres from Madrid so you do not have any problem for visiting them in the same day.

Natural swimming pools, peaceful landscapes, cathedrals, monuments and so on… ¡There’s something for every taste!

  • Alcalá de Henares

  • It is the city where Miguel de Cervantes was born, you must also visit the oldest university in Spain.
  • You can go by train in 35 minutes approx ( depart from Atocha train station) or by bus in 40 minutes approx ( depart from Avenida de América: Buses 223, 225, 227)

Aranjuez

This city was built as the royal family´s summer house. You can´t miss the royal gardens and palace. There are plenty of good Spanish restaurants.

You can go by train in 50 minutes approx ( depart from Atocha train station) or by bus in 1 hour  approx ( depart from Méndez Álvaro: Bus 423)

Ávila

This city is amazing, in the centre you will find the old surronding wall from Medieval time. There are also famous the large beef steak, the yemas de Santa Teresa (traditional sweets) and beans from Ávila.

You can go by train in 1 hour  20 minutes approx ( depart from Chamartín train station) or by bus in 1 hour  20 minutes approx ( depart from Méndez Álvaro)

The views of the Somosierra Mountains, Lozoya River, a city surrounded by a wall built during IX and XI century and the castle, marvellous!

One of the most beautiful and magical monasteries in the world was built from 1563 to 1584. It is advisable to pay and go inside the monastery where are buried the royal family.

In this city you will find one of the most famous Roman aqueducts in the world, el acueducto de Segovia, also famous for its Alcazar, the cochinillo asado (a roasted pig which cooked so tender) yummy!

You can go by train (AVE) in approx. 30 minutes( depart from Chamartin Train Station) or by bus in 1 hour  and 15 minutes approx ( depart from Principe Pio Bus Station 661, 664 buses)
